Nervous Patients

Here at Home Counties Clinics we pride ourselves on having treated many patients who have suffered from dental phobia and have been able to over-come this in our clinics. Some of these patients had not been to a dentist for many years and often came in even more anxious at the thought that they had neglected their teeth and imagined they needed vast amounts of treatment.

We have found that in fact, in a large majority of patients this is not the case and only minimal dental treatment is required to get them back to good dental health. Mostly they require some treatment with our dental hygienists for their gum health.

A detailed consultation with one of our dentists who are all trained to deal with nervous patients is necessary.
Some patients feel more relaxed after meeting their dentist and decide to go ahead with their treatment plan without the need for sedation.

2. Oral Sedation

An oral sedative can be given prior to treatment.
One tablet, usually taken the night before, and one taken an hour before the appointment will make you a more relaxed and help to relieve you from the anxiety of the procedure.

3. Conscious Sedation

With our in house sedationist Dr Munir Ravalia.
This is suitable for the very nervous patients and is a safe way of sedating in the dental chair with minimal down time.

Munir is available at our clinics by appointment, where he offers the following treatments under local anaesthetic, with or without IV Sedation; general dentistry, routine extractions of wisdom teeth, difficult and retained root extractions. He also offers his services in conscious sedation for our restorative, implant and root canal cases.
